In a unexpected crossover event that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Disclosed

According to the official statement, "A strange encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of banned practices and fearsome changes reverberate through the shadows." The storyline features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden sect.

The mission concentrates on "strange experiments and a fearsome foe" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Transformations

The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Additional Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana alongside multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique arms
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Content

This update also adds the game's newest free story episode, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations

This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that unmistakably echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
